WHO ARE WE?
Mel Welch Co-founder Missionary
Mel has been ministering in Mozambique since 2006 seeking to bring the love of God in word and action to the poor and vulnerable. Mel trained as a languages teacher and after 12 years decided to follow her heart to be a minister of God’s grace and compassion among the poor, the elderly, the sick and vulnerable. She completed a BA in Biblical and Intercultural Studies at All Nations Christian College, Ware and in 2006 joined Mandy on a short-term mission trip to central Mozambique. In 2007 along with ministry partner Mandy she followed God’s call to full-time mission work in the Inhambane province starting to serve alongside a Mozambican pastor and his church in Vilanculos. In 2009-2012 she undertook a long-distance part-time MA in Mission at Mattersey Hall Bible College. Mel has preached and taught the bible in the rural villages for years, where there is little formal bible training available for poorly resourced pastors and leaders. Her heart is to train and encourage national Christians in Transforming Mission, and her prayer, that they will become spirit-filled transformers of a new generation.
Mandy Hunter Co-founder Missionary
Mandy worked as a midwife in the UK for over 30 years. Following the Ethiopian famine in 1988 Mandy felt a call to the help the poorest people of Africa but it wasn’t until 1996 that she started to go on short term mission trips to various parts of Africa training poor rural health workers and TBA’s (Traditional Birth Attendants). She completed a course in Tropical Medicine in Liverpool and in 2002 went to All Nations Christian College to complete a Diploma in Biblical and Intercultural Studies in preparation for full-time missionary work.
She has a compassionate heart and desires to see the poor and needy touched and healed by God’s practical love. Mandy works alongside national Christians sharing her knowledge and training them to respond to and treat the sick in their villages, which are often far from the hospital.

Mel and Mandy serve together with Mozambican Christians. The Church of Jesus Christ is global, and Jesus’ final prayer was that we might ‘be one’ as the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are One. In humility and love we serve God and the people together with the gifts we have been given. Ministerio da Graca is a missional worshipping community with a heart for ‘the least’ and a passion to see lives changed through transforming mission.
Sergio is our Team Leader and Co-ordinator.
He is university educated and has studied at ALICT (African Leaders Institute for Community Transformation) in SA and has a passion to see individuals and communities transformed by God’s powerful love through compassionate service and discipleship of a new generation.
Bento has a passion to teach the bible and see lives transformed by God’s word and Spirit.
He has served with Charis for many years and has a compassionate heart for the most vulnerable and a passion to see people and rural communities transformed by God’s love and His powerful word.
Orlando is a gifted worship leader, who writes his own songs and plays guitar and piano.
He serves as Children’s Worker and has a vision to take our Kid’s Club to more and more villages to see many more children have a real spiritual encounter with Jesus through worship and by making the bible come alive as well as training those who are gifted to become worship leaders.

Frederico is a church leader and evangelist and is an anointed preacher and prayer warrior.
Ezekiel is the Vilanculos Centre care taker and gardener
Ezekiel is the Vilanculos Centre caretaker and gardener. He works hard to create a pleasant green space at our Centre as well as growing many vegetables in our MG Centre garden.

Elizabeth co-ordinates Charis ministries in Ethiopia and is a nurse with a heart to provide holistic care to the poorest of the poor.
